Steve Chaikin is an independent attorney with a private practice focusing on criminal defense and personal injury claims. Mr. Chaikin and Mr. Ruben went to high school and law school together and have been good friends for more than 30 years. Steve has been Mr. Ruben's "go to" referral for criminal and traffic defense all over Maryland and has only rave reviews from each person who Steve has represented. Mr. Chaikin is a former career prosecutor who was a division chief in the State's Attorney's Office. Mr. Chaikin handles serious felony cases as well as all District Court cases and traffic/DUI related matters. Steve's experience and reputation in the area of criminal defense is second to none in Montgomery and surrounding counties. He is a graduate of Syracuse University and the University of Baltimore Law School. Steve started his career as a Public Defender in Baltimore City in 1994 and then worked in the Baltimore City State's Attorney's office in 1997. In 2000, Steve joined the State's Attorney's Office as a prosecutor and rose through ranks to become a senior Assistant State's Attorney and Division Chief when he left to start his own practice in 2015. Steve has successfully tried countless jury and judge trials over his distinguished career. In 2016, Steve received the President's Citation for Outstanding Service from the Bar Association of Montgomery County. In 2017, Mr. Chaikin received the "Leadership in Law," award from The Daily Record. Mr. Chaikin has also been awarded the Governor's Medal of Distinction for his work in the community.
